Emotional Super Full Moon in Pisces Brings Access to Lost Treasures in Consciousness

     The emotional “Super” Full Moon is taking place on Saturday, August 29, 2015 @ 2:35 PM at 6° of Pisces. Everyone is talking and writing about it, and lots of ideas are going around. I can’t help but feel a sense of urgency about this Full Moon as it is illuminating powerful lessons and culminating in awareness the fruits from six months ago – the New Moon in Pisces that took place on February 18, 2015 @ 6:47 PM at 0° of Pisces (on the Aquarius-Pisces cusp).

          Full Moons are times for reaping and bringing into fulfillment and fruition the seeds that have been sown half a year ago; in the words of Jesus, “Ye reap what ye sow.” But here is why I am qualified to tell you some major things about the upcoming Full Moon…it is activating my Sun and Mars, bringing to the fore the ideas of intention and purpose (Sun), and passion and drive (Mars). Let’s just say I am steaming to tell you some things about the upcoming configuration, why you should look out for it, and how you can be ready for it.

          The energies of this Full Moon will have possibly life altering affects, especially given this is a Super Moon, meaning the Moon will be extra close to the Earth, exerting extra strong gravitational influences, and amplifying the effects of the astrological indicators. Pisces is the last sign of the Zodiac, representing life-nourishing themes of unitive consciousness, zero boundaries, wholeness, the totality, universality, otherworldly concerns, total devotion to the highest, wistful surrender, 100% unconditional love, accepting, allowing, emotional understanding, and flowing with the vast oceans of life.

          Now is a time for metaphysical and transpersonal revelations of what Rumi, the Sufi mystic and poet said long ago…”You are not a drop in the ocean. You are the entire ocean in a drop.” Now is a time to discover that we are not fragmented, we do not even have to be perfect, all we are here to do is to align with the universe’s highest intention for us, surrendering to the flow of time, embracing all life as it is and accepting it with all your heart. Pisces represents themes of compassion, receptivity, humility, impressionability, imagination, empathy, eternal bliss, enchantment, goalless living, transcendence, blending, merging, sacrifice, all that is vague, dreamy, wondrous, magical, and fantastical.

          The Achilles Heel of Pisces is to float or drift through life, lacking direction, swimming every which way, without any sense of self or a healthy self-interest, to escape or run away in the face of responsibilities and avoid facing life head on, to swoon in the dangerous realms of victimhood or martyrdom rather than be the creator and manifester of your reality. Pisces is idealistic, but idealism can be a lost or wistful pursuit in the budding face of what the current Virgo Sun wants us to learn: a sense of duty and a willingness to put in the hours to bring about our vision.

          Pisces energy seeks, nay longs, and yearns for a kind of soulful reconnection born of prior incarnations. It leans towards floating or accepting conditions that are truly unhealthy and may be in great need of a revamp. Hence the subtle yet unmistakable forces of disillusionment, despondency, and despair associated with Pisces. When we hope and pray too much, without our prayers being grounded in reality, what possibility is there for manifestation? In other words, our prayers must be realizable in the first place. To pray for a person to come back from the dead is just not reasonable…life doesn’t work that way! The awareness that is that person has moved to somewhere else and has left the body for an important reason. Why ask it to return?
“Lord, make me an instrument of thy peace.
Where there is hatred, let me sow love;
Where there is injury, pardon;
Where there is doubt, faith;
Where there is despair, hope;
Where there is darkness, light;
Where there is sadness, joy.
O divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek
To be consoled as to console,
To be understood as to understand,
To be loved as to love;
For it is in giving that we receive;
It is in pardoning that we are pardoned;
It is in dying [to self (addition by Eknath Easwaran)] that we are born to eternal life.”
– Prayer of Saint Francis of Assisi
          Finally, all that we have been praying for…all that we have been hoping and yearning for is grounded in reality and may be concretely realized by virtue of our hard work and dedication to bringing our dreams to real-life fruition.

          The glyph for Pisces is often said to be representative of two fish swimming in opposing directions yet inextricably bound together. Such is life; we are all floating along on our cosmic journey yet united by virtue of our being localized forms of Satchitananda (Existence, Consciousness, and Bliss) and cosmic energy. We are all united on our quest for truth, all on the path of consciousness whether we realize it or not, and all on a journey to recover the lost boons of the soul, treasures and long-forgotten jewels that live deep beneath the tugging tides of our heart, buried in the vast oceans of our inner worlds.

          Unity awareness is not just a fluffy concept, it is a real, living awareness discovered by the Saints and Sages long ago and in our modern era. The mystic understands that all life is fleeting, beautiful, and pervasive, and the life that permeates you is the life that permeates me. Mystic revelations represent cosmic apparitions and uncharted waters that transcend mere words, thought forms, or concepts. They are discovered in consciousness during prayer, visualization, imagery, and meditation. Such paths offer us ways towards deep soul searching uniting us with what is desired, but only under one condition. We must let go for it to take place. We must take the proverbial leap of faith.

          We must offer our hearts lovingly to that which transcends our limited, human understanding. We must believe. Miracles are realizable. Everything that you have been searching for...imagining...may come true. Ask nothing of the universe but the very highest good. Surrender the fruits of your labor and offer them up selflessly to the Divine. Free yourself from the confining shackles of karma that has brought repeat injuries into your life. Ask the universe for a cosmic re-attunement!

          At a deeper level, perhaps, Pisces represents the Circle of Spirit split into two pieces. Imagine a circle, cut in half, each half separated and turned away from the other, yet inextricably bound together. This is the illusory dualities of subject and object, knower and known, light and dark, longing to reunite and re-discover their interconnectedness and source. Such links are highly karmic and there for a reason: to illumine all parts of ourselves and thus bring us to realize the unity of life. When we are bound to the object of our desire and to the fruits of our actions, how can we ever attain it? We must let go all prior notions of division in order to re-awaken what is there before us…what is already in us – the undeniable yet indescribable awareness of all of who and what we are.
 “In the underwater landscape of Pisces, the fishes, elusive and mercurial, share the depths with the octopus that guards the buried treasure. Those eager to reach the gold at the bottom of the sea and drink from the cauldron of immortality must fight their way through the clinging, strangling, tentacles and blank clouds of ink, for the guardians will allow no greedy mortal to claim what belongs to the spirit alone. Yet the magical light of the ancient treasure is a beacon and a promise to those who have lost their way in life and can trust the currents of the waters to bring them safely home again.”
– Liz Greene, Mythic Astrology
          When we are able to untie the bonds that link together our disparate parts, take them apart, discern their meaning, and put them back together, we are then able to unite the divided parts of our self and discover the whole that is much greater and much vaster than the sum of the parts. To unite (Pisces) we must first untie(Virgo). The Piscean-Virgo Full Moon represents this deliberate taking apart and putting back together the divided parts of ourselves that we may better understand the whole. I told you this was an important time….

          Thus we realize the major themes of the Pisces polarity – analysis v. synthesis, discernment v. universality, judgment v. compassion, imperfection v. perfect wholeness, order v. entropy, efficiency v. goallessness, dedicated effort v. trustful surrender. The Sun’s annual transit through the sign of Virgo brings to importance the archetypal themes of the laborer, humble servant, virgin, careful regulator, disciple, apprentice, craftsperson, critic, analyst, specialist, technician, and Sherpa (a Sherpa is one who works as a skilled, and scrutinizing guide of mountainous terrain in the Himalayan regions). Because the Moon will be transiting the sign of Pisces on Saturday, the feeling tone of the Full Moon and archetypal themes being reflected upon us may be demarcated in terms of the dreamer, painter, mystic poet, inspired musician, emotional and universal navigator, cosmic contemplator, yogi, empath, psychic, illusionist, magician, visionary artist, transcender, miracle worker, and oracle.

          In the words of poet William Blake, “To see a World in a Grain of Sand and a Heaven in a Wild Flower, Hold Infinity in the palm of your hand and Eternity in an hour.” The hour has come for massive intention setting in your life! Who are you prepared to be?…What are you prepared to feel?…What thoughts do you want to think?...What merriments do you wish to enjoy?...What are you willing to do…to bring your visions into reality? Dreams are nebulous; they exist merely in the seemingly untouchable realm of possibility. That all changes now when the Super Full Moon in Pisces, as it will be opposed by the Sun in practical, sensible, and responsible Virgo. Pisces-Virgo represents a selfless, service-oriented stance for the sake of the highest – a sacrificial and giving orientation that desires only to offer up our labors for something beyond our present comprehension. Our hard work and tiresome efforts pay off when they are able to benefit humanity in a much more universal way.
          In speaking about the combination of Virgo and Pisces in an individual’s astrological map, Sue Tompkins writes, “At best, the discriminative and critical powers of Virgo combine with the humility, altruism, and compassion of Pisces to give rise to a genuinely useful and giving kind of person…Rescuing others or asking to be rescued is a common theme in the relationship patterns of this type.” Remember Virgo is the laborer, and Pisces is the savior? This Full Moon calls us to not judge a book by its cover, but to quietly and contemplatively to see what’s there…because there may be much more there than you realize, or more that you are to realize at this powerful time.

          The polarity represents ritual purification, a kind of spiritual de-contamination that promises something new and improved and better than before. With transiting Jupiter in Virgo, the sign of it’s ‘aversion’ (opposite it’s home sign of Pisces), it may be hard to imagine what’s possible and in the works, but we must believe… We must have faith that the universe is pulling strings on our behalf and for the very highest and that there is an incomprehensible meaning to it all. Jupiter and the Sun in Virgo denotes the ‘discernable truth and unforeseeable future’, whereas Neptune and the Moon in Pisces represent the ‘inevitable salvation and intuitively knowable past’. All will come into awareness now as the full light of the Sun will brought to bear on the subtle impressions of the watery, Piscean Moon, making this an opportunistic time for realizing your dreams in crystal clear and concrete ways. In short, your life will be improved if you can live, love, let go, and go with the flow!

          All this while sensual Venus – feminine principle of love, beauty, desire, and romance – is building up to its second fiery conjunction of the year with passionate Mars – masculine principle of action, force, energy, and assertion – giving way to the new month. Mars and Venus conjoined in Leo represents the all-consuming desire for play and the need for creative self-expression, valiance, intentionality, esteem, and to be the star of your own life. We are definitely in a powerfully transitional time in which all that we desire may be born of setting a powerful intention and trusting in the Divine. Prayers will be amplified one thousand fold, realizations may dawn in the thousand-petaled lotus of the Sahasrara chakra, while you are called to put into your practice your vision, put in the work to manifest your dreams, give it time, patience and the utmost attention to detail and dedication.

          This prayer, sent in an e-mail to me today from life coach Chris Cade and The-Course-In-Miracles.com, accurately characterizes the energy of the upcoming Full Moon and can offer us a start to our heartfelt prayers and intention setting:
“My holy vision sees all things as pure.
Father, Your Mind created all that is, Your Spirit entered into it, Your Love gave life to it. And would I look upon what You created as if it could be made sinful? I would not perceive such dark and fearful images. A madman's dream is hardly fit to be my choice, instead of all the loveliness with which You blessed creation; all its purity, its joy, and its eternal, quiet home in You. And while we still remain outside the gate of Heaven, let us look on all we see through holy vision and the eyes of Christ. Let all appearances seem pure to us, that we may pass them by in innocence, and walk together to our Father's house as brothers and the holy Sons of God.”
